Dev Log Update: Simplifying Combat Logic in Pick or Burn
In this update, we streamlined the combat mechanics for Pick or Burn to make fights more intuitive and engaging! The new system breaks combat into two straightforward steps:
- Decide Initiative: The player or enemy with the higher attack strength strikes first.
- Determine Attack Outcome: The success or failure of an attack depends on the attacker’s strength versus the defender’s. A failed attack means the defender successfully blocked the hit.
This approach replaces the overly complex probability calculations from before, focusing on clarity and fairness. It also makes it easier to add new mechanics in the future, like critical hits or special defenses.
The result? Faster, more satisfying combat that keeps the tension high without bogging down the action. We're excited for you to try it out and feel the difference as you fight your way through Pick or Burn!
